Hello Parents,

As everyone is aware we have many exciting things going on in Honor Choir right now. We want to keep you up to date and go over items about Music Man and Disneyland.  There is a lot of information in this email so please take the time to read all of it =)

MUSIC MAN:

• TICKETS ARE ON SALE!  If you have family unsure if they are coming, send them over to the website and they can order tickets there. Lets get 3 full shows, these kids deserve it with how hard they have been working!! There are a few ways that you can get tickets:
  1. Order your tickets on the website and Kara Boggs will have them ready for you at the next rehearsal,
  2. Call or text Kara 988-5200 and she will have your tickets ready for you at the next rehearsal or
  3. Talk to Kara at the rehearsals. She is there every rehearsal, just look for her purple box of tickets =)
• ALL TICKET MONEY IS DUE JANUARY 20
• ADVERTISEMENT FUNDRAISER: We know it is short notice but this year everyone has an opportunity to sell advertisement space in the program to help off set the cost of Disneyland tickets. Please look at the advertisement form for more information: MM Ad Contract . ALL ADVERTISEMENTS AND FUNDS ARE DUE FRIDAY, JANUARY 15.
• We need your help.  Recently, people have been saving seats before the doors open.  We need to be fair to all of our guests.  The only seats that will be reserved are for the handicap, those who are recording and/or taking pictures for the production DVD and any volunteers who are helping before the show,  that do not have anyone that can save them a seat for the show.
• PLEASE NO RECORDING OR PHOTOGRAPHY during the show. It makes a difference when the performers can see the audience instead of phones, ipads and cameras. Plus we have the Mendiola’s working very hard to record and photograph everything and we have two other photographers,  Juventa Vezzani and Brian Osterhout, taking photos for us. Hopefully, you have had a chance to look at all the great things they have given us for Wizard of Oz to know that they do a wonderful job! If you feel like you need your own recordings or photos please come to dress and tech rehearsals and take them.

DISNEYLAND:

• Thank you for getting your ticket number in on time!  If you have not turned them in, please contact Ruth 261-2511
• DISNEYLAND MONEY IS DUE WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13. Please know that we will not be able to take any money beyond Wednesday, January 13. For those who are participating in the fundraiser, the fundraiser money is due Friday, January 15. After that date, you will need to purchase your own tickets at full price through Disneyland.
• If you are going to do the fundraiser please talk to Ruth.
• All money needs to be turned into Ruth.

THEORY BOOKS:

• Thank you for working on your books!  To be honored at the spring concert, books need to be turned in the second week of March.
• If you are correcting your students books at home, Great! Thank you for helping. If it is possible please have your students bring their books to class so we can check off their progress. This helps them to keep moving forward.
• If you have books 1 and 1.5 that have been corrected and returned to be fixed, they need to be turned back in ASAP. Please turn them into Kelly.

Thank you for helping your students be prepared and on time to all rehearsals. All their, and your, hard work is showing with how well they are prepared for Music Man.

At our Friday rehearsal, we will be privileged to have Debbie Holtzclaw work with our children to choreograph two numbers (76 Trombones and Shipoopi).  Mrs. Holtzclaw is an award winning choreographer, and has worked with our children before.

At choir on Wednesday (Jan 6), Mr. Thompson invited anyone who could come 15 minutes early to our rehearsal on Friday, to do so (Jan. 8, 12:20 p.m.).  That way, we can see the high school perform the dances before we start learning them ourselves.

If your child cannot come early, that is fine.  Even if we only have half of our choir come early, that will be better than none, and it will help all of our children.  Thank you for being so faithful in getting your children to rehearsals!  Everyone has come so prepared that it has made everything go so smoothly.

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to remind you of a couple of dates for Disneyland:

• Ticket Requests are due now. If you have not already told us what you want please do so ASAP. You can communicate your request in a few different ways: 1) text Ruth 261-2511 or Kelly 614-6194 or 2) reply to this email or 3) tell us at practice today. Please make sure that you let us know how many tickets you need and for how many days. If you text or email us please put your last name, number of tickets and length of time wanted (example: Osterhout, 4 tickets for 3 days). Thank you!
• All ticket money is due a week from today on Wednesday January 13. Ruth will be sending out invoices to every family to let them know what they owe. Please make checks out to: Hickman Charter School.
• Please know that every family is responsible for their own travel and hotel for the Disneyland trip. If you have not made reservations yet I suggest you do. It is very busy at Disneyland that time of year due to a variety of schools having spring break.
• The Wednesday Choir practice for March 2 is cancelled so families can focus on their trip that week. Hopefully, this will help everyone with their planning.
• A couple of thoughts to keep in mind while you are planning your trip:
  • Travel time: know how far your hotel is away from Disneyland and how traffic will effect your traveling. Remember to include time for traveling, parking, getting into the park, and getting to the meeting spot.
  • Extra Days: If you plan on visiting the park before the performance day please plan in some down time for your student(s). Sadly, in previous years we’ve had students unable to preform because they got sick due to exhaustion and dehydration and they could not perform.
  • Please be aware that the workshop and performance will take a large chunk of day. Since we don’t know our schedule, please don’t plan anything on the day of the performance until the schedule comes out. As soon as we get more information from Disneyland, we will pass it on to you.

Hi Everyone,

This coming week is going to be a busy week with choir and we just wanted to give you a quick reminder of this week’s schedule.

• Tuesday, December 1, 11:00-12:30pm: Winter Concert Practice. Students do not need to wear their uniforms at this practice There will be no cast party afterwards since it is a full day with practice and the concert.
• Tuesday, December 1, 6:30-8:30pm: Winter Concert. Please wear the Honor Choir Uniform.
• Wednesday, December 2, 12:35-2:35pm: Music Man Auditions =)

 

With the holidays just around the corner and we know how busy everyone’s schedule is we wanted to let you know of a couple of updates that will help you plan your choir schedule.

Wizard of Oz DVD:

• Rey Mendiola is working hard putting the DVD together for us. The Mendiola family recorded each show from three different angles and Rey is now working on putting everything together into one wonderful product. He hopes to get it to us soon. Thank you Rey and family for working on this and we appreciate all time you are putting in to making this DVD a special keepsake for all of us.

Music Man:

• There was an error made on the schedule. December 30 and December 31 are a Wednesday and Thursday not Thursday and Friday. There will be practices on Wednesday, December 30 and Thursday, December 31  =)

• The calendar has been updated with all the current dates.

Disneyland:

•  All ticket orders are due January 4. Starting now, Ruth and Kelly will be taking ticket orders. If you know how many tickets you need and which passes you want, please let us know ASAP. This way we can start working on collecting the numbers and getting an invoice to you.You can email it to us or let us know at practices =)
• Ticket prices: 1 Day Hopper Pass:$134, 2 Day Hopper Pass: $171, 3 Day Hopper Pass: $205, 4 Day Hopper Pass: $242, 5 Day Hopper Pass: $279
• All Disneyland money is Due January 13. We will happily take payments any time (starting now) until January 13 but the final day to make payments is January 13!
