Hello Everyone,
What a wonderful week of practices. The kids have been working hard and all their work is paying off! They were able to practice the show from start to finish on Friday and Wow did it look great. Since we are getting closer to show time there are a couple of things I would like to let you know.
Please continue to promote the show and get the word out. We have sold about half of the tickets for the Friday’s show but there are still lots of tickets for the Saturday shows, especially for the 7pm show. It would be great to have 3 sold out shows. Remember that all tickets and money need to be returned this Friday, September 11.
Kara will be at practices all week to help you with your ticket needs.
Costumes, costumes, costumes! Mrs. Waters and her crew of volunteer parents have been working very hard to get all the costumes ready for the kids. As they finish costumes they will be handing them out. To help the kids know what they are wearing, I have created a document (Oz Costumes) that explains what everyone needs, what they are responsible to bring from home and what costume is needed for each scene. Please go over it with your students and help them organize everything. Thanks!
Over the next few days please start collecting what they need and getting a bag/container ready that they can use to hold everything. You may want to have two bags just in case they are changing costumes in more then one place. Please, remember to label every item with their name (on masking tape) where it won’t be seen. Many times the back stage crew finds costume pieces not in bags and this will make it easier for them to return them to their owner.
It looks like there are going to be a few quick costume changes. To help cut down on change time, students can change costumes in the lobby and back breeze way next to the bathrooms. We will have volunteer parents chaperoning and helping with costume changes backstage, in the lobby, and the breezeway. Please make sure your students know that they will not be able to change costumes in the side hallways next to the bleachers! It would be very distracting to the audience if they saw or heard the kids changing. =) Please take a few minutes and go over the the order of their costume changes and help them decide the best place for them to change costumes.
Lastly, I want to say thank you to all the parents! You have been such a great help getting all the kids prepared, to practice on time, and lending a hand in every way you can! Without every one of you doing what you do this show would not be such a wonderful experience for the kids!
If you have any questions please let us know!
Thank you,
Kelly
