Dear Honor Choir Families!

With the Spring Concert and CMEA just around the corner we wanted to make sure everyone is aware of all dates and times for all the rehearsals and performances for the rest of the year. Below you will find all the planned dates but please be aware that there could always be dates or extended times added for rehearsals. The choir sounds so wonderful and Mr. Thompson is working every practice to get them to reach new levels of excellence. If there are any rehearsal that you will not be able to attend please let us know, Thanks!

• Tuesday, March 21 @ 11:40-12:30pm: Spring Concert Rehearsal and Mini Performance for High School Students. Please have your student wear their black “I’m a Naturalist” shirt or a plain black shirt.
• Tuesday, March 21 @ 6:30pm: Spring Concert. Cast call in Room 49 at 6:30pm. The concert starts at 7pm. Please have your student wear their dress uniform. Please review the dress code on the website, if needed.
• Wednesday, March 29 @ 12:35-2:35pm: CMEA Rehearsal
• Wednesday, April 5 @ 12:35-2:35pm: CMEA Rehearsal
• Friday, April 7 @ 8:15-9:40pm: CMEA. Please refer to the previous email for all the details. Please have your student wear their dress uniform. Please review the dress code on the website, if needed.
• Monday, May 8 @ 12:30-2:00pm: Musical Auditions and Graduation Rehearsal
• Monday, May 15 @ 12:30-2:00pm: Musical Auditions and Graduation Rehearsal
• Wednesday, May 24 @ 5:30-7:30pm: Hickman Graduation. Call time is 5:30pm and graduation starts at 6pm. Once the choir sings, students can leave but are welcome to stay and celebrate the eighth graders accomplishment =) Everyone, except eighth graders, Please wear your dress uniform. Please review the dress code on the website, if needed.

Hello Honor Choir Families,

The schedule for CMEA has been released. This year Hickman Honor Choir will be performing in a later time slot than normal. Please look below for all the information that you will need.

CMEA
WHERE: Johansen High School, 641 Norseman Dr, Modesto, CA 95357, USA
WHEN: Friday, April 7
TIME: 8:15pm: Choir meets in choir lobby (when you turn onto the street to enter the school park in the 1st parking lot on right. the lobby area is in the first building).
  8:30pm: Warm up backstage with Mr. Thompson
  8:55pm: Performance
9:20pm: Clinic (behind closed doors with Mr. Thompson)
9:40pm: Released
WHAT TO WEAR: Please have your student wear their formal uniform. Girls are wear their hair down. Everyone needs to wear their black dress shoes. If you have any other questions please ask Ruth or Kelly.
WHO CAN COME: CMEA is free to the public. Family members are welcomed and encouraged to watch the performance. If you are interested, you can come early and watch other choir groups perform.

This is a great experience for our students to perform in front of others choirs and professionals. We know that this a late performance time but we hope everyone can make it. Please know that we will need a conformation if your student(s) will or will not be attending CMEA by Wednesday, March 15 by replying to this email. This will give Mr. Thompson time to make adjustments if needed. We hope to see everyone there =)

Dear Honor Choir Families,

This year it has been decided that the Honor Choir is in need of new choir uniforms. Ruth has been working quietly behind the scenes trying to find a perfect uniform for the students. We are getting close to making a final selection on what they will look like. We are hoping to have the uniforms before CMEA =)

To help with the order process, we need to have all the boys try on tuxedo pants and shirts to find the right fit and be able to order more if needed. We are asking that all the honor choir boys, including change voices, who come to campus on Monday to please meet Ruth and Kelly in front of the annex right after morning classes to try them on. The office is going to find us a room that we can go into. Please have the boys wear modest underclothes under their school outfits so we can all do this quickly and efficiently without all of them needing to run to the bathroom to change. We will be focusing on the boys who need to go to afternoon classes first then the younger students. If there are any parents on campus that are willing to help us, that would be greatly appreciated. Those students who are not on campus Monday, please wear underclothes to choir on Wednesday so we can try the pants and shirts on then. Please don’t feel like you need to make a special trip to campus.

Some parents have been asking for practice CD’s for the music the students are working on right now. Mr. Thompson’s CD burner is not working right now so he loaned me the originals so I could put the music up on the website. Below you will find the links for alto, soprano 2, and soprano 1 music. Hello Everyone!

Mr. Thompson wanted to invite all the Honor Choir families to come watch the High School Aladdin. If you have the time and are interested, you can attend one of the following shows:

• Wednesday, February 1 (tomorrow) at 9:00AM
• Wednesday, February 1 at 7:00PM, Tickets cost $10
• Thursday, February 2 at 7:00PM. Tickets cost $10

For those families who are trying to schedule for CMEA, Science Olympiad, and Mathbowl, we have conformation on the CMEA date. CMEA will be on Friday, April 7. We do not know the time yet but it will be in the afternoon or evening. Please plan on it being sometime after 1:00PM. Hopefully, this will help you get more plans finalized =)

We wanted to let everyone know that the Friday, February 3 rehearsal has been cancelled. At this time it has not been rescheduled.

On a side note, if your student took home their borrowed costume, please bring it back asap. We would like to return all the costumes back to their owners right away.
