Last Night’s Performance

Dear Honor Choir:

What a wonderful thing you did last night:

• lifted an audience with your beautiful singing,
• inspired them with your sincerity and goodness,
• helped bring in over 5,000 pounds of food to stock the shelves of food banks in the area,
• and helped raised over $2,000 in cash to help that poor grandmother who has 11 grandchildren living with her on her husbands meager social security check.

Thank you (and your parents, and choir leadership) who helped make all of this possible!

This Wednesday, we will assign the rest of the solos and prepare for our next two performances. On Monday, November 20, we will be handing out scripts and rehearsal schedules for “My Son, Pinocchio.” There are lots of parts in this play, and it has a wonderful message of pulling together as a family.

I love working with you and your parents!

Solos, Voice Lessons, and November’s Concert

Dear parents and members of Honor Choir:

There are three items of which you need to be aware.  Please note the information that applies to you, as this will be the only communication you will receive regarding these two subjects.

  1. Altos.

Altos were scheduled to work with Mrs. Winberg this Wednesday.  She has another engagement.  The altos will not have a voice lesson on Wednesday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m.  Honor Choir will begin at the normal time or everyone at 2:35 p.m. in room 49 (the normal room).  We will continue the following week with the regular voice lesson schedule.  Thanks for your flexibility.

  1. Solos for upcoming performances.

Those interested in auditioning for solos, please come prepared to sign-up and sing them at our rehearsal on Wednesday.  We may not get through all those that sign up, but I need to know who is interested so I can give as many people an opportunity as we can.  A list of the solos is found at the end of this mailing  You were given the music last Wednesday.  Preparation increases your chance for success!

  1. Better Together Benefit Concert.

This next item is for those who will be able to attend the Better Together Benefit Concert rehearsal (Nov 9-Thursday) and performance (Nov 11-Sat).  Thank you for your willingness to participate.  If you can’t attend the rehearsal, but can attend the performance, that is OK.  We still want you to perform with us.  Let us know, however, so we can save you a seat.  I suggest you print the following schedule and instructions, or save them to your phone so you have easy access to them.  Please come with an attitude to do all we can to help this be a successful event.

On Thursday, November 9, the schedule is as follows:

6:15 p.m.   We will meet in the north foyer of the chapel at 4300 N. Dale Road to be escorted to our rehearsal spot.  Please be 5 minutes early.  We have a 10-minute warm up time before being escorted into the performance hall.

6:30 p.m.     We are escorted into the chapel for a 10-minute sound check with mics, and to run through our pieces one time.

6:40 p.m.     We will be escorted back to our warm up area to continue to prepare.

7:00 p.m.     We will be back in the chapel to learn and rehearse the combined choir numbers (Because I Have Been Given Much and America the Beautiful).  All 10 choirs will also practice going from their seats to the staging area in a cue to cue rehearsal of the show.

8:15 p.m.     Rehearsal is over.

On Saturday, November 11, the schedule is as follows:

6:55 p.m.     Meet in the North lobby of the chapel at 4300 N. Dale Road to be escorted to our warm up room.

7:00 p.m.     Warm up

7:15 p.m.     Sit in our seats

7:30 p.m.     Performance begins

9:00 p.m.     Projected time for the performance to end.  We leave with happy memories and joy our hearts.

Thanks for your desire to refine your talents, to work hard, and to strive for excellence.

Crunch Week Schedule and No Rehearsal Wednesday, September 20

Dear parents and members of Honor Choir:
Honor Choir has been working hard and everything has come together so beautifully. As a director, I make guesses as to how fast it will take to pull together a show. Things are going very well, and we are a little ahead of schedule. So, rather than having a rehearsal we don’t need, we are going to cancel the Wednesday, September 20 rehearsal. This will give us a chance to get the stage ready and practice our costume changes at home. We will resume with our practice on Thursday as scheduled.

Thank you for getting flyers up and tickets out! Everyone is doing so much to help our children succeed.

Below you will find the schedule for the rest of the week. Please take a few minutes to review it with your students. Students will need to arrive with enough time to get mics on (if needed), costumes on and set, and make sure their props are ready by call time. Please plan on arriving with enough time to get ready.

Thank you!
Brad Thompson

Thursday:
