Mic Checks and More

Dear Parents,

What a wonderful first day of crunch week. The students got to run through the whole show on Monday and are now ready to work on adding their costumes and mics. Below you will find all the information you need for mics and costumes. There is a lot of information so please take the time to read the whole email =)

MICS:

Mic check is very important for our sound crew to make sure everything is working. If your students name is listed below please make sure that they are in their costumes, mics on, mics checked by Mr. Daniel or Elizabeth Daniel, and ready for mic check at the time listed. Please be aware that the time listed is the time that the sound crew will be working with your student on stage not the time they need to arrive. We will have someone at the auditorium at the times listed on the crunch week schedule in the previous email.  There should be enough time for students to get ready.

STUDENTS THAT NEED TO BE READY 20 MINUTES BEFORE REHEARSALS AND SHOWS FOR MIC CHECK: If your student is not ready for mic check 20 minutes before rehearsal the sound crew will not have time to check their mics before the show.

Olivia Kee, Stephanie Davis, Emmalynne Alvarez, Lyla Mazuelos, Tori Kelley, Katie Osterhout, Josh Mendiola, Simon Mize, Matthew Vezzani, Bergen Finley, Eliot Kee, Hudson Conners, Levi Johannsen, Emily Hanson, Theron Osterhout, Claire Miller, Walker Murphy, Jamie Boggs, Hyrum Barber, Grace Shrader, Douglas Shrader, Abigail Barber, Zyfra Mazuelos, Jonathan Anderson, Jeff Boggs, Joseph Anderson, Victor Martins, Owen Gauthier

STUDENTS THAT NEED TO BE READY 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE REHEARSALS AND SHOWS: This group needs to work on getting their microphone wire on 10 minutes before rehearsal/show times.

Elizabeth Lo, Alexia Alvarez, Brooke Huffman, Lydia Waters, Olivia Maes, Julianna Pereida, Kaya Strand

COSTUMES:

  • Please label your students costume with their name on masking tape on inside, especially if they remove it during the show.
  • Bring a labeled bag for them to hold all their stuff including a sealed water bottle.
  • If they have parts of their costume that belong to them and they need to wear them to the auditorium, for example boys wearing their own pants and shirt, that is fine but all other parts of the costume should be put on at the auditorium.
  • Please NO EATING MEALS in your costume.
  • BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES for the cast party and for when costumes are turned in
  • Your student needs return all borrowed costumes and props to Mrs. Waters and Mrs Conners after the last show on Saturday. The high school uses these items too =)
  • Girls: please make sure your hairstyle represents that time period. No high pony tail, french braids or braids, except if they are playing the part of a little girl.

Other:

  • Volunteers needed: We are looking for one volunteer per show that would be willing to chaperone Room 49 before the shows. All you would need to do is stay in Room 49 with the students until Mr. Thompson arrives to warm them up, usually 30 minutes before the show starts. If you are interested please talk to Kelly.
  • Please make sure your student stays hydrated during this week. They can bring a bottle a water with a lid back stage during the shows. Please make sure it is labeled if it is a plastic water bottle.
  • There is rain in the forecast for Friday and Saturday. Please plan for any extra time you may need to get to the auditorium.
  • Please remind your student that once they are dressed and have been released from mic checks that they need to go to room 49 (show times) or go to the lobby during rehearsal time. The sound crew needs to focus on mic checks and that is hard to do with students running around.

This is going to be another great show. Thank you for everything you do to make this a wonderful experience for your student and everyone that works with them.

Thanks!

Crunch Week

Dear Parents,

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of activities for honor choir. With that being said you would never know that the students have been putting in so many hours practicing for Music Man and working on the songs for CMEA and Disneyland too. Every time they walk through the door they are ready to learn with a smile on their face. Their dedication to Honor Choir is amazing. Thank you!

Crunch Week is here and we are in the home stretch to performance time. To help you get through crunch week we have put together a schedule and a few items that we wanted you to be aware of.

Tickets:

  • The ticket sales are very low =( If you have not bought your tickets yet please do so asap. We really would like to see three full shows! Remember to call all your family and friends.
  • The flyers are available on the website, its not too late to hand them out or put them up around town. If you need flyers printed for you, Kristi Mazuelos (209) 968-6423 has kindly said that she would happily make copies for anyone who needs them.
  • All ticket money and unsold tickets are due Monday, January 18 at rehearsal. You can still purchase tickets after that time but you will need to pay for them when you get them. Kara will be selling tickets until the lights turn off for the last show =)

Parent Volunteers:

  • Many of you have asked how you can help, here are a few ways that you can. We are in need of parent volunteers in the following areas. If you would like more information about any of the areas please call the parent listed. Thanks!
    • Cast Party: If you are able to bring food items or help with the cast party please contact Ali Miller (209) 495-2777
    • Ushers: If you are interested in seating people and handing out programs, please contact Brooke Finley (209) 495-6670
    • Back Stage Chaperone: If you are interested in helping back stage during the shows please contact Alice Conners (209) 204-0789

Props Needed:

  • We are in need of a few props. If you could help us with any of the items below please contact Alice Conners (209) 204-0789
    • Band Instruments (if your son is in the band and you have one they can borrow that would great!)
    • Pitch Fork

Mics

  • In previous shows students have put mics in their pockets. Moving forward all mics need to be put into a sock and attached to the back of their undershirt under their costume. Please make sure they are wearing a shirt that can hold up to the weight of the mic.
  • Even if your student has used a mic before they need to check in with Mr. Daniel or Elizabeth Daniel once they put their mic on. They will be checking to make sure everything is on and everything looks good, we are hoping this will help resolve some of the mid show issues.

And now what everyone has been looking for: )

Please look carefully for your student’s name for Monday’s rehearsal time, some students are being asked to come early and/or stay late. Even though some students have been listed for Mic check for Monday they will not be the only ones wearing mics.  Please keep mic check time open just in case your student may need to come in for mic checks later in the week. The first group is just the beginning of mic checks =)
