Hello Honor Choir Families,
Wow! Can you believe it? We are heading into crunch week! This production has been a real pleasure to see coming together. The students have been giving 110% to make this the best show yet! Thank you to everyone for making sure your students are prepared, at rehearsals on time, and lending a hand where you can! We appreciate every one of you!
To keep the momentum going we wanted to give you all the last bits of information so everyone can be prepared for this week. Please take the time to read it and review all the information with your students so they will ready to give 150% starting Monday =) Please be aware we have added 30 minutes to Monday’s practice, it will run until 12:30pm. Plus we will need everyone to bring their costumes.
Thank you!
Items Needed:
- Newsie Hats: Please bring newsie hats if you have them. Please put names in your hats and if you have a spare to share let us know, all the boys will need one.
- Boys/men long sleeve shirts: They will be used for the Toy shop scene where the families are wearing matching colors. Please look in the scene section below for the colors we are looking for.
- Food for Cast Party: Please contact Stacy Maes (510) 378-6562 if you can help.
- Ice Chest with ice
- Cuties
- Cookies
- Case of bottled water
- Writing pens for kids to sign their programs
- Head Count for Cast Party:
- If you are planning on attending the cast party please contact Stacy Maes and let her know by Monday at practice. She needs a head count so she can get the right amount of food. If you do plan on attending please give her your $3 on Monday, the casts food will be paid for.
Volunteers Needed:
- Backstage:
- If you are interested in working backstage during any of the performances, including student shows, please talk to Rochelle Wade-Cox (mrscompostqueen@yahoo.com or (209) 205- 5626).
- Front House:
- If you are interested in working as an Usher for any of the performances, including student shows, please contact Susan Garza (flewtst@gmail.com or (209) 417- 9410).
- Room 49 Monitor:
- We need an adult to supervise room 49 before and between shows. This will give the students a place to hang out while they wait. You would be able to leave once Mr. Thompson comes to Room 49 to work with the kids. You would need to come at least 30 minutes before call time since we have students showing up early for mics. We ask that you would be comfortable reminding kids not to tire their voices and conserve their energy for the show =) If you are interested in helping please contact Kelly.
- Mic Runner:
- We are looking for parents who would be interested in working with Rey Mendiola. This volunteer spot helps put mics on students before the show and during the show wait for texts from Rey and fix any mic problems that come up. This includes changing out batteries, fixing muted mics, turning mics back on, fixing the position of wires on the face, and anything that needs to be done to keep the mics working. You will be moving around back stage and in the lobby area to find kids. When all is quiet you can watch the show from the side, if you want. Kelly will be teaching anyone who is interested during the student shows. Then we will ask that you to take one show. If you are interested please contact Kelly.
- Clean-up Crew:
- We need parents to stay after Saturday’s performance and help clean-up, take down set, set up for band, and collect costumes.
Flyers:
- PLEASE get those flyers up in the community this weekend. Having flyers posted has been shown to directly increase the attendance for our performances. Just think how many flyers we would have out there if every choir member posted just 2! I handed out 2 full size flyers to post in the community, and 2 small size for giving to family and friends, to each choir member this week. If you need more, the links are on the honor choir website. It is so fun to have huge, cheering audiences for the performances! Please get out there this weekend. Thank you so much! If you have any questions about this, please contact me.

Tickets:
- Ticket sales are low:
- Please keep selling and promoting. It is really nice for the students to look out into the audience and see family, friends, coaches, and neighbors. It’s an even greater pleasure when they see a full house.
- Flyers are available on the website.
- Monday, January 15:
- All ticket money is due. Any tickets you have out need to be returned or paid for. Please note that you can still buy tickets, but if you ask for tickets you will need to pay for them. Please remember to encourage people to order tickets on line. We are happy to hold tickets at the door.
Mics:
- Monday Rehearsal:
- The following students need to come 20 minutes early to rehearsal on Monday to put on mics: Theron Osterhout, Hudson Conners, Emma Cabral, Samantha Holloway, Elisabeth Lo, Sophia Cancino, Olivia Maes, Josh Mendiola, Julianna Pereida, and Jamie Boggs
- More students will be getting mics but we will be getting everyone mics on during the first part of the rehearsal. Please ask your student to wait until we call for them to find out if they have a mic. Some students will be sharing mics and we would like to call them at the same time so they will know who they are changing with.
- Even though we would love to give everyone a mic, we have limited mics. Please help your student understand that even if they have a speaking line they might not get a mic.
- Future Rehearsals and Shows:
- If your student receives a mic they will need to come early to put on their mics. If they share a mic and are the first person wearing it, they will need to come early to put it on. Please look at the schedule for the time they will need to come. It is important that they are dressed and have mics on before call time.
- Please be aware that they should be in their costumes before they put their mics on so they will need time to get ready.
- Mic Rules to Remember:
- All mics need to be put into a sock and attached to the student’s backside under their costume. Please make sure they are wearing a shirt that can hold up to the weight of the mic.
- No student should be turning mics on or off, even when they are switching mics with a partner. If they need their mic checked, ask an adult or and 8th grader who knows how to handle the mics.
